Day 29 Meditation Prayer

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—
his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Romans 12:2

Over the next several days, we will use our prayer time to become very familiar with the Lord’s Prayer. I heard Dallas Willard in an interview state that before his feet hit the floor out of bed in the morning, he meditates either through the Lord’s Prayer or Psalm 23 or both. I am hopeful and praying for you, as I write these words, that before you get out of bed in the morning, the Lord’s Prayer will become your morning meditation.

Prayerwork, Part 1: Take the words of the Lord’s Prayer and think deeply about what each word means. Ask God to allow the Holy Spirit to take over your imagination to give you pictures or images in your mind of you becoming or living out each phrase or word.

Prayerwork, Part 2: After praying for God to send His Spirit, take at least a minute, but more if you would like, and think about each word or phrase from the Lord’s Prayer. Be open to the Holy Spirit prompting your imagination. Write down any images or pictures, sights or sounds, that come to mind beside the word or phrase.

Prayerwork, Part 3: Spend a moment thanking God for any images or pictures He brought to mind.

“May my prayer be set before you like incense;
may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice.”
 Psalm 141:2
