Day 28: Putting it All Together
I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. Ephesians 1:17
For the next several days for prayer prompts we will be using the prayer that Jesus taught His disciples:
“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.”
Matthew 6:9-13
This might be the first Scripture I ever committed to memory. The salt and pepper shakers set out for dinner the most had a white porcelain container they set in with the Lord’s Prayer on it. As I learned to read, I often tried to sound out words that I saw. She helped me sound out the words and helped me memorize what was written.
I memorized the King James Version of the prayer and it has stuck with me to this day. The words Jesus taught His disciples on how to pray, or “pray this when you pray,” are both powerful prayer and powerful training. I encourage you to memorize this prayer and meditate through it often. Hopefully, if you don’t have it memorized already, by the end of next week, you will.
I’m praying that this prayer from Christ to us, will help you know Him better.
To finish this week, we’ll put our prayer practice together with another acronym: ACTS. The letters stand for Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication. Supplication is just a fancy word for asking prayers.
