
Instructions: Spend five minutes in each section following the instructions for that section and you’ll pray for an hour.
Preparation: Go ahead and prepare a little before you start praying. 1) Have a blank piece of paper ready to write down thoughts or names to pray for during the WAITING section. 2) In the CONFESSION section, feel free to use the list of sins found in that section. 3) Pick out the Scripture you will use, and book mark it for the READ THE WORD section. 4) And make your list of the people you will pray for during the INTERCESSION. There are blanks below to use. 5) Write out what you are grateful for to use for the THANKS section in the blanks below.
PRAISE: Start your prayer hour by praising the Lord. Praise Him for things that are on your mind right now. Praise Him for one special thing He has done in your life in the past week. Praise Him for His goodness to your family. On the back of this sheet are reasons to praise God.
WAIT: Spend time silently waiting on the Lord. Ask God for what and for whom you are to pray. Write down any names or projects or events that come to mind .
CONFESS: Ask the Holy Spirit to show you anything in your life that might be displeasing to Him. Ask Him to point out attitudes that are wrong, as well as specific acts for which you have not yet made a prayer of confession. Now confess to the Lord forgiveness.
READ THE WORD: Spend time reading in the Psalms, in the prophets, or passages on prayer located in the New Testament.
ASK: Make requests on behalf of yourself.
INTERCESSION: Make requests on behalf of others.
PRAY THE WORD: Pray specific passages. Scriptural prayers as well as a number of Psalms lend themselves well to this purpose.
THANK: Give thanks to the Lord for the things in your life, on behalf of your family, and on behalf of your church.
SING: Sing songs of praise or worship a hymn or spiritual song.
MEDITATE: Have a pen and paper ready to record promptings or thoughts from the Holy Spirit. Think deeply about the prayers, communion, and song lyrics that you have just prayed.
APPLICATION: Ask God to tell you a name who you need to whom you need to teach this prayer tool. Ask God with whom you need to share Jesus this week. Ask God to show you how you need to apply this prayer time to your life.
PRAISE: Praise the Lord for the time you have had to spend with Him and the impressions He has given you. Praise Him for His glorious attributes.
